SensorLogic Releases Cirrus Platform-as-a-Service
May 07, 2010 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) --
SensorLogic, Inc., a provider of platform and application software for cloud-based Asset Visibility solutions, announced the release of its Cirrus Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
Available immediately, the Cirrus Platform expands and extends the way enterprises, solution providers and systems integrators will make asset visibility an integral part of smart businesses through new and legacy applications. Cirrus said it provides the building blocks that are part of all tracking applications from device connectivity and management, business logic and architecture for application creation, deployment, integration and management.
According to Beecham Research, Asset Tracking and Monitoring Applications are expected to be a $28 billion global market by 2014, with a compounded annual growth rate of nearly 30 percent. With the SensorLogic platform, customers can create and deploy scalable production asset tracking applications in days, not months.
The significant evolution in the latest incarnation of Cirrus is the tremendous flexibility with which customers can now build these applications. Applications built on Cirrus can now be created using any standard application development framework. Further, customers who want to integrate location and condition information and events into legacy applications can now do so in a way that were not possible before. This is now possible due to the introduction of Widgets and Web Service APIs that expand what's possible and remove the limitations that constrain so many applications, and those who build them in this market.
The Cirrus Platform is comprised of three layers, each with elements of functionality necessary for every asset tracking and M2M application:
-Cirrus Infrastructure - Cirrus manages device communication, provisioning and management, data access, network management, and the data center.
-Cirrus Business Logic and Event Management - Cirrus provides data, location and events services, allowing customers and partners to leverage a common set of technologies that transform raw data into information and events, without developing and managing these themselves.
-Cirrus Application Framework - Cirrus provides pre-built Widgets and Web Services APIs to build new applications, or extend existing ones, in any standard Web application framework, and to unify and optimize enterprise applications. Customers now have flexibility in how they track and monitor assets, and use that information in real-time.
