According to company sources users can simply text “redbox” to 50101 from a mobile device, reply to an incoming message with a zip code and receive a list of redbox locations in the area. The new service is the latest mobile feature offered by the company which complements the free iPhone (News - Alert) app from redbox launched in November 2009.

In a release Gary Cohen, senior vice president, marketing and customer experience, redbox said, “With more than 24,000 locations and counting, finding the nearest redbox location has never been easier," said. "our mobile programs continue to enhance the redbox experience and make finding the latest film or the closest redbox simple for consumers.”

Redbox strives to make renting and returning new release movies easy for consumers. The ‘rent and return anywhere’ policy allows consumers to return movies to any kiosk located anywhere in the U.S. The fully automated redbox kiosk holds 630 discs, representing up to 200 titles.

Company officials added that consumers are required to simply use a touch screen to select their favorite movies, swipe a valid credit or debit card and go. Also consumers will be able to visit www.redbox.com to reserve their movies online.

This new “Location Finder” text service is powered by Signal, a provider of Software-as-a-Service or SaaS (News - Alert) cross-channel marketing tools and interactive campaign consultative services. Signal delivers innovative marketing messages to mobile devices besides providing promotions which can engage on-the-go customers.

Signal is the company’s flagship SaaS platform which is also a mobile-optimized system that helps marketers develop, execute and analyze cross-channel campaigns including mobile, e-mail and the social media. These campaigns will feed a common customer database. Also Signal’s cross channel marketing platform can procure user zip codes based on user location and will deliver real-time information in response.

Company officials added that Signal is capable of supporting customers with marketing strategy, program and campaign design besides helping in mobile application development. It is leveraged by blue-chip companies, including brands, retailers, online services, agencies and broadcast media for processing customer interactions

Redbox offers new release DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals through its network of conveniently located, self-service kiosks. The service is available at over 24,000 locations nationwide, including select McDonald’s restaurants, Walmart and Walgreens locations, grocery, drug and convenience stores.
