UMedia, Mojix Partner to Deliver Advanced RFID Systems to Middle Eastern Market

Universal Media (UMedia), a specialized system integrator developing customized business solutions in the fields of real time location services (RTLS), ERP, hardware distribution, and e-commerce, announced an agreement with Mojix to resell and provide system integration services for the Mojix STAR (News - Alert) system, the UHF passive RFID system that brings higher levels of precision, scalability and return-on-investment to radio frequency identification applications.

Under the agreement, UMedia will offer consulting, system integration services and support for Mojix products targeted to supply chain and asset management applications for customers in GCC and the Middle East specifically for entities in the oil and gas, manufacturing, logistics and aviation sectors.

UMedia successfully implemented integrated business and supply chain solutions for a number of regional entities. Specialized in delivering tailored offerings that combine real asset monitoring with fully integrated business intelligence and ERP solutions, UMedia clients include Kuwait Oil Company, KGL Logistics, LG Kuwait, Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, Habchi and Chalhoub, Group 4 and Auto Mak.

Developed by noted experts in deep space communications, the Mojix STAR system breaks through the economic and technical barriers to RFID deployment, enabling organizations to deploy a single EPC/ETSI (News - Alert)/ISO standard based system to address the full spectrum of supply chain management and real-time location and asset tracking needs. Combining the latest advances in digital signal processing with architecture to expand RFID coverage by an order of magnitude, the Mojix STAR system delivers numerous “firsts” that radically change the face of UHF passive RFID deployments and extend RFID utility.

The STAR system enables organizations to realize greater benefits from passive RFID, and opens the door to ubiquitous visibility of goods and assets. A single Mojix STAR system handles multiple concurrent applications across an entire warehouse, retail complex, distribution center, transportation yard or other large contiguous space with a single point of data collection and management. These applications are not limited to traditional RFID tag (News - Alert) reads, but can also include numerous other high-value functions in a passive ETSI-compliant RFID environment such as real-time location estimation and tracking, virtual fences and electronic proof-of-delivery. This in turn greatly extends the utility of passive RFID while allowing for even faster and greater returns on investment.

In related news, Mojix and IBM (News - Alert) announced a distributorship agreement and the launch of the Mojix STAR system in Japan. The STAR system enables organizations to realize greater benefits from passive Radio Frequency Identification or “RFID,” and opens the door to ubiquitous visibility of goods and assets across the supply chain, according to company officials.
