Wyless Goes Wireline

Wyless, a global M2M managed services provider, has partnered with Interoute, owner and operator of the largest fiber network in Europe in order to build the “M2M Superhighway.”

Interoute will host three Wyless (News - Alert) network operating centers (NOCs) in Geneva, London and New York. This agreement will link the carrier’s pan-European network, which has eight data centers and 32 collocation facilities, with the Wyless managed global wireless network. The lit fiber network connects 100 cities in 29 countries across 55,000 kilometers of lit fiber.

The first new NOC (News - Alert) became operational in Geneva in September 2010. In addition to creating a redundant, global backbone on the Interoute fiber network, the technical partnership will enable Wyless and Interoute to layer both cloud and managed data services over the existing Wyless network.

This development follows an earlier announcement from Wyless about expanding its network in the states.

“As the needs of our partner ecosystem of wireless ASPs and large enterprises evolve, a more comprehensive suite of services is required from managed service enablers like Wyless,” said Dan McDuffie (News - Alert), senior vice president of global sales for Wyless Group. “We clearly need to demonstrate extreme scalability, reliability and redundancy on a global basis. Partnering with Interoute gives us an advanced network platform and the ability to scale. We are the first M2M solution provider to offer both continental redundancy and end-to-end managed services on a deeper level than even that of MNOs.

Jan Louwes, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Interoute, said, “Interoute owns and operates Europe’s largest private cloud, which integrates our pan European next generation network with our high-quality data centres. This combination of scale, performance and innovation makes it a great platform for M2M managed service providers such as Wyless. Through this partnership Wyless have added massive reach and resilience to their managed services offering.

“The fact that many of the world’s largest cellular operators trust their networks to Interoute is a testament to the strength that this combined offering will offer the M2M market, and over the next two quarters we will be unveiling a host of new products and services with Interoute and our other strategic partners. The M2M Superhighway has truly arrived,” Louwes added.
