Janus Remote Communications Picks Telit M2M Module

Telit Wireless Solutions, a specialist in wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) technology, announced that its CC864-DUAL, a CDMA-1XRTT dual-band cellular M2M communications module, has been selected by Janus Remote Communications (News - Alert) to enable cellular data communications for the company's new Terminus CDMA864D integrated wireless terminal.

Janus Remote Communications designs, manufactures and distributes standard and custom M2M products.

Designed for lower volume M2M applications, the Janus Terminus CDMA864D is an intelligent CDMA Control Terminal that offers a comprehensive solution for M2M capability in one compact, cost-effective solution, company officials said.

The solution is ideal for use in fleet and asset management, vending, security, alarm monitoring, e-maintenance and other telemetry and telematics applications, they added.

The wireless terminal doesn’t require additional customer certification and needs very low levels of customer integration. It can host and control entire M2M wireless applications, minimizing the need for extra components.

“We have enjoyed an excellent track record with Telit, leveraging their unified form factor design concept to expand network access capability across multiple generations of our wireless M2M terminals,” said Dave Jahr, general manager for Janus Remote Communications, in a statement.

Jahr added that Telit's pre-certified design methodology greatly simplified the integration of the CC864-DUAL module into their next-generation Terminus, rapidly accelerating time-to-market by drastically cutting back the time commitment typically associated with redesigns for new network and carrier compatibility.

According to Michael Ueland, vice president and general manager of Telit Wireless (News - Alert) Solutions, the compact Terminus devices are the ideal solution for companies seeking to leverage the power of M2M to cost effectively track, monitor or regulate the status of valuable assets.

The Telit CC864-DUAL is designed featuring the same form factor, function and AT command set as its GSM/GPRS and UMTS/HSDPA counterparts, enabling M2M developers like Janus to design an application only once and deploy globally across multiple cellular network technologies like GSM/GPRS, UMTS/HSDPA and CDMA-1xRTT by seamlessly swapping modules and avoiding costly redesigns.

Recently Telit announced it signed a framework agreement with Coyote System, a European provider of GPS radar warning systems, for the sale of “the world's smallest GSM/GPRS module.”
