LOCiMOBILE Inc., a subsidiary of GTX Corporation,
has crossed the milestone of 750,000 users in over 100 countries. In addition it has launched another GPS product, thus moving a step higher in being a leader in the LBS mobile market.
Specifically, GTX has introduced a new iPhone (News - Alert) based app called iCheck-In. This app keeps the user connected to all the contacts in their mobile list and Facebook account. The recipient of the check in post does not require an app, as the check-ins are sent by Facebook (News - Alert) wall posts or emails.
Hence the concept of check-in has moved far beyond the apps and the smartphone. Now anyone and everyone can find your location with a push of a button and even get directions on their mobile on to how to get there.
There will be an estimated 1 billion smartphones in the market by 2014, with mobile majors such as Samsung (News - Alert) delivering 40 million smartphones and 1 million tablets in 2011 alone. Hence apps such as check-in will surely have a lot of takers. The revenues from the mobile market alone will touch as estimated $12.7 billion.
GTX has plans to continue leveraging this competitive market and has plans to introduce new applications such as e-Health apps and apps that will run on several platforms and devices from the PC to the smartphone to the tablet.
