N-trig, a provider of complete subsystems of digitizers, comprising hardware, drivers and software that can be seamlessly integrated into existing platforms and support various industrial design options for mobile products, has announced that its DuoSense solution is now compatible with the Android (News - Alert) operating system.
DuoSense by N-trig is a dual-mode interface powered by a single digitizer, which leverages pen and projected capacitive multi-touch to create onscreen digital input and offers a true hands-on computing experience to the users of a number of digital products including mobile computers.
The DuoSense Digital Pencil deploys inherent pen capabilities to enable greater levels of interactive creativity and provides a highly usable solution to the users, while the integrated N-act gesture vocabulary includes a vast library of gestures for performing actions and tasks directly on the screen. Combining the two capabilities, the DueSense solution transforms the basic touch consumption into an advanced application for simultaneous input. Featuring a screen size range of 7 to 17 inches, the solution can be implemented within various form factors, such as slates, netbooks, tablets and desktop replacements.
As more and more companies have been incorporating the Android operating system in their offerings within the slate and mobile PC segment, N-trig has decided to enable the support for the operating system within its DueSense solution. With the new announcement, the vast Android community will be able to enjoy a comprehensive package for both pen and multi-touch development.
A big number of devices powered by the Android platform can now deploy N-trig hardware to enhance conventional slate functionality by using both the DuoSense pen and multi-touch capabilities. Integrating DuoSense with Android, enterprises can leverage the N-trig Digital Pencil to create pen-enabled applications for more precise and creative on-screen user interaction in a number of ways.
“With the addition of Android, we are able to address the different requirements of a rapidly growing market that is looking to expand its media consumption and creative capabilities for pen and multi-touch functionality,” commented Amichai Ben David, chief executive officer at N-trig. “Together with the Android developer community, we will be able to enable greater precision, productivity and accuracy with new pen-enabled applications that will enhance the way users connect with their computers.”
