ATX Group, a leading customized connected vehicle services provider to global automobile manufacturers, formed a partnership with Aeris (News - Alert) Communications to provide turnkey network solutions to Hyundai Motor America. ATX Group will be the telematics services developer and integrator and Aeris Communications will be cellular carrier to the connected vehicle marketplace in North America in the Hyundai’s Blue Link connected vehicle program.
Hyundai Moto America had announced the launch of its Blue Link telematics programs at the recent International Consumer Electronics Show 2011, held in Las Vegas. The Blue Link will henceforth be launched on all the future Hyundai models, right from the Sonata, to be rolled out in the U.S.
According to the project agreement, ATX will be leveraging upon Aeris Communication’s enhanced system selection to overlap the cellular networks in order to provide redundant data paths to vehicles, and to ensure the most reliable connectivity possible; as well as Aeris’ AerFrame Web Interface.
The Aeris AerFrame Web interface has been designed to monitor and confirm the communications and connections between ATX’s next generation telematics platform and the vehicle, by integrating the control of the wireless service to the vehicle and billing systems, as well as providing service protocols, which have been optimized to take advantage of the network's unique features. It will be the telematics industry’s first product of its kind.
In a press release, the Director of Customer Solutions at ATX, James Dawson, said, "Aeris has enabled ATX to provide a 'one-stop-shop' solution in all aspects of service for Blue Link, including the planning, implementation and delivery of wireless account management services for the program. This solution has been gaining market traction and everything has gone extremely well with this first joint launch. Aeris closely collaborated with us throughout the program development process, and we will continue to work together to guarantee the level of reliability and service that our clients require for connected vehicle services.”
The Vice President of Telematics at Aeris, Paul Drysch, added, "Providing ATX with real-time visibility into the interaction of their feature software with multiple layers of Aeris' network (elements) resulted in faster, more reliable software development and unparalleled device control."
ATX, a division of Cross Country Automotive Services, provides services such as asset tracking, phone number forecasts/administration, activations/deactivations, fraud management, incident reporting and management, billing reconciliation, and rate plan management. Aeris specializes in providing wireless data services such as robust and secure connectivity for IP data, SMS and voice, using an industry leading platform for provisioning and activation, account and device management, real time device and traffic information, and detailed billing, for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) solutions.
