In an effort to propel the Internet ecosystem in the Middle Eastern region, the leading provider of context-aware mediation and messaging solutions, Openwave Systems Inc. opened a new office in Dubai. The Redwood City, Calif.-based company has a growing customer base in the region and the new office is designed to offer products and solutions delivery and local support services to the customers throughout Middle East.
According to the company, its strong presence in the region will enable local operators to effectively manage networks, enhance consumer experience and monetize the growth in data traffic.
In a press release, the officials at Openwave (News - Alert) said that the new Dubai office will be the main base for Openwave for conducting business in the region. Jose Maria Lorenzo, the area vice president of Southern Europe, Middle East and North Africa for Openwave will be in charge of the new center at Dubai. In a statement, Lorenzo said that he is delighted to lead his company in Middle Eastern region. He expressed his hope that his company will work toward introducing innovative solutions for its customers and help build up a new digital life ecosystem on the basis of new business models and service plans.

Intelligent data traffic technologies such as ours that can help existing and new convergent networks perform better and achieve faster returns on network investments will be crucial for operators in the Middle East to stay competitive in the telecom industry,” CEO of Openwave Ken Denman (News - Alert) noted in a statement.
Last month Openwave Systems announced the appointment of Brian Beattie to its board of directors. Beattie brings to Openwave more than 25 years of financial leadership, corporate development, and management experience in public company environments. Beattie currently serves as chief financial officer at Synopsys (News
- Alert), a world leader in software and IP for semiconductor design, verification and manufacturing. Openwave's Board is currently composed of seven directors, six of whom are independent.
