M2M is enables the flow of data between machines and consequently machines and people. Irrespective of the type of machine or data, information usually flows in the same general way -- from a machine over a network, and then through a gateway to a system.

Arrow will distribute Janus Terminus platform devices in the Americas regions, under the new agreement. From simple telemetry devices through intelligent control terminals, the Terminus platform encompasses cellular communication terminals. Telit Wireless (News - Alert) Solutions, Janus offers their customers a variety of paths to integrate wireless technology into both new and existing applications, incorporating a variety of different communications modems from their partner company.

“The Janus Terminus platform provides a quick-and-easy solution to cellular enablement, with little to no hardware design effort,” said David West, vice president of supplier marketing and asset for Arrow Electronics (News - Alert). “Our customers now have access to a simplified transition to an embedded cellular module design using Telit, with minimal software changes to the embedded firmware or the end application.”

The customers of Janus Remote Communications will now get competitive edge in their respective market segments as the company combines its products with Arrow’s demand-creation activities in the M2M space. Janus has a solid reputation for designing and producing quality M2M products and services. As part of the Connor-Winfield family of companies, Janus is uniquely positioned to provide all elements of the custom M2M solution, from hardware and firmware design, to software engineering, to PCB and component manufacturing.

In August 2010, the company agreed to acquire Shared Technologies (News - Alert), the North American unified communications (UC) and managed services provider. Coppell, Texas Shared sells, installs, and maintains communications solutions, including the latest in UC, voice and data technologies, contact center, network security, and traditional telephony. The company is expected to report via Arrow’s Enterprise Computing Solutions (ECS) North American business.
