HCL Infosystems, a hardware services and ICT systems integration and distribution company, has been awarded a contract from India’s Assam Electronics Development Corporation Ltd (AMTRON).
Officials with HCL Infosystems said that the as per the contract, the company would provide 7200 units of HCL ME laptops.
This initiative by AMTRON is an integral part of the existing ‘Anundoram Borooah Award Scheme’ by the Government of Assam set out to honour meritorious students of the state.
“Today computers have become one of the most essential requirements of daily life, and especially in student life where it can play a pivotal role. India, being a growing economy, needs to propel PC penetration and truly democratize access to broadband to realise its potential as a knowledge economy,” said JV Ramamurthy, president and COO of HCL Infosystems, in a statement.
Ramamurthy said that the company congratulates the Government of Assam for this unique model to award meritorious students and inspire them to actively make use of technology.
“We look forward to continue our association with this initiative along with many more to come,”he added.
TMCnet recently reported that HCL Infosystems has bagged a contract from Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd. (Keltron) to provide over 6500 units of laptops and netbooks.
Keltron supplies laptops and netbooks as a part of the IT@School project for the Government of Kerala.
Officials with HCL Infosystems said that the company will be partnering with the state government and will be providing best in class HCL ME Laptops designed for Indian conditions and supported by the company’s service and support network.
Earlier in November, TMCnet reported that HCL Infosystems Limited entered into a partnership with Oracle (News
- Alert) to showcase their business intelligence (BI) offerings.
Officials with HCL Infosystems said that the partnership reinforces the company’s strength and expertise in the BI domain.Company officials said that HCL’s Centre of Excellence Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) focuses on both industry specific and technology specific solutions that include customers, competitors, business partners, economic environment and internal operations.
