Eurotech, a supplier of embedded technologies, products and systems, announced it will demonstrate a complete wireless gateway solution that allows for machine-to-machine (M2M) devices, applications and services to get to market quicker.
The new M2M wireless aggregation gateway is based on Intel's (News
- Alert) hardware and software development kit (SDK).
Eurotech will demonstrate a live development environment based on the Intel Atom processor M2M reference platform with a software development kit from Wind River (News
- Alert) and Eurotech at the Embedded World 2011.
“Embedded systems now encompass a broad range of technical expertise beyond the capabilities of a single customer or service provider,” said Arlen Nipper, CTO for Eurotech North America, in a statement. “With the Intel Atom-based M2M gateway reference platform, customers can start adding their business logic on the first day of the product development cycle.”
This complete modular design approach to the software stack for Intel's M2M smart services development kit can significantly shorten hardware and software development for customers, Nipper added.
The new class of Intel Atom-based M2M gateway reference platform, featuring Wind River Linux and Eurotech Everyware Software Framework, incorporates the density of a complete appliance with the flexibility of an embedded industrial computer to enable mission critical applications, company officials said.
Eurotech and Wind River formed a strategic alliance in September last year to support joint sales, marketing and distribution of Embedded Development Kits. As part of the Wind River On-Board Program, Eurotech now offers Embedded Development Kits with validated board support packages of Wind River's embedded Linux operating system with Eurotech's Intel Atom processor-based hardware.
“Service innovators desire to create and quickly implement revenue-generating solutions for their specific applications,” said Kevin D. Johnson, director of Embedded Connected Devices, Embedded and Communications Group, Intel Corporation, in a statement.
“The Intel Atom processor-based M2M gateway reference platform with Wind River Linux and Eurotech Everyware Software Framework enables developers to deploy new services quicker, easier and more cost efficiently,” Johnson added.
According to industry experts, the largest anticipated challenge for adopters to migrate to Scalable Edge Node (SEN) and cloud-ready platforms is to select the right software framework for their specific implementation. Eurotech's new solution offers one option to ease that transition.
