Sierra Wireless, a leading provider of products and solutions for mobile computing and wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, has recently announced that its AirPrime will power PositiveID's iglucose solution. PositiveID provides next generation patient monitoring solutions and its iglucose is a mobile health solution for real-time diabetes management. Sierra Wireless (News - Alert), through its AirPrime’s intelligent embedded modules, will be showcasing the iglucose wireless communication system solution at an upcoming CTIA Wireless event at booth # 1670 in Orlando, Florida from March 22 through March 24, 2011.

Sierra Wireless AirPrime wireless modules have been designed to provide seamless integration of hardware, software and services to simplify and accelerate the end-to-end development of M2M applications. According to the terms of the agreement, Sierra Wireless will provide the AirPrime Wireless Embedded GSM module which will support the wireless communication of iglucose, enabling PositiveID to reduce development costs and deliver products to market more quickly. iglucose comes with a rechargeable battery and is portable. The iglucose needs to be connected to a data-capable glucometer to be able to communicate the data to the iglucose database. The blood glucose readings can then be shared in real-time with family members and health care professionals, encouraging self-management by the patient.
