Telit Raises Ubiquitous Coverage Bar

Telit has introduced a five-band HSPA+ M2M module that combines high transfer rates with ubiquitous coverage, the latter coming via support for quad band GPRS and EDGE class 33. The module, designated the HE910, can therefore be used in any 3G network worldwide without the need for regional variants.  It is also said to be the smallest module featuring five-band HSPA+: the footprint is only 795mm2.

In 3G mode the HE910 supports all five existing frequency bands: 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz as well as GPRS and EDGE. The universal applicability warrants business scalability and is a strong asset for vendors who want to market their solutions worldwide. These features eliminate the need for individual country versions and different part numbers for different frequency allocations. In addition, it is a significant benefit for end users whose portable devices require worldwide coverage.

The LGA package with a size of 28.2 x 28.2 x 2.6mm provides a low profile, which saves space and weight and reduces costs in high-volume applications.  LGA modules are also ideal for automated assembly using standard SMT equipment.

Transfer rates HSDPA of 14.4 Mbps (Cat 10) and HSUPA of 5.7 Mbps (Cat 6) are well suited for devices that have high throughput applications, e.g. mobile computing, in-car telematics, PDAs, e-readers, and tablet PCs. Future firmware releases will enable increased throughput without having to make hardware changes.

In addition, the HE910 features a high-speed serial port (MIPI HSI) and Receive Diversity. Optionally, it can be equipped with integrated high sensitivity A-GPS functionality for indoor fixes and simultaneous GPS with voice and data.

Dominikus Hierl, CMO of Telit Communications (News - Alert) PLC said, “Telit combines world class products with outstanding support. We have a policy of investment protection and long-term commitment to servicing our customers. Our technical support team will provide full assistance to any client who needs clarification or help in addition we offer complete support in application design review in order to reduce time-to-market.”
