Wireless network operator Verizon Wireless and M2M application platform company Axeda Corporation forged a partnership to speed up the development and deployment of global machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions.
Axeda (News - Alert) explained that its application development platform offering will accelerate the M2M market by simplifying how companies build, service, and extend connected product solutions. It eliminates start-up barriers to developing real-world, wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) applications, enabling companies to get solutions to market faster.
The platform will be merged with the prowess of Verizon Wireless’ (News - Alert) wireless network in order to offer a unified and scalable global M2M infrastructure which in turn removes today's device- and network-centric technology silos and helps customers seamlessly develop and deploy complete connected product solutions.
Verizon asserted that its Machine to Machine Management Center already makes it easy for enterprise customers to activate and manage connected devices deployed around the country and around the world. Through the partnership with Axeda, the company is simplifying the process even more by providing customers with access to a cloud-based, enterprise-class M2M application development platform that can scale to millions of devices – essentially creating a one-stop shop. The partnership’s another intention is to reduce the complexity involved in developing global M2M solutions and bring down the time-to-market for powerful solutions.
Officials with Axeda asserted that through their relationship with Verizon Wireless, Axeda customers will have access to a best of breed mobile broadband network, which is vital to the success of any M2M implementation. Customers will also be able to take advantage of Verizon Wireless' advanced subscription management platform and extensive ecosystem of supported M2M devices.
Analysts such as the Yankee Group pointed out that cooperation among technology majors such as Verizon Wireless, Axeda and other key partners will be critical to making it simpler and more cost-effective to deliver solutions – benefitting developers, enterprises, and end-users alike.
In recent news, Axeda Corporation announced a free offering of its Axeda Platform, making it possible for companies to develop and deploy wireless connected product solutions with no initial costs. With this new offering, Axeda eliminates start-up barriers to developing real-world, wireless machine-to-machine (M2M) applications, enabling companies to get solutions to market faster.
