Story continues below ↓
T-Mobile USA, Inc., Everything Everywhere Limited, the U.K.’s largest communications company, and Giesecke & Devrient, a premier international technology provider, have teamed up to develop the industry’s first embedded multi-mode international mobile subscriber identity SIM.

The multi-mode solution has been designed for cost-effective international machine-to-machine deployment and will act as a local SIM when deployed in the U.S. and the U.K.

The ability to deploy multiple global subscriptions for reduced roaming costs and improved coverage in areas outside of local networks will be received by M2M application providers, with the help of this unique “borderless” solution.

“We are pleased that our close collaboration with T-Mobile (News - Alert) USA and G&D will result in this unique, ‘borderless’ M2M solution,” Marc Overton, vice president of Wholesale and M2M at Everything Everywhere, said in a statement. “Single-deployment connectivity will significantly improve the way international M2M customers of Everything Everywhere and T-Mobile USA operate across both sides of the Atlantic.”

Being in the competitive M2M marketplace, T-Mobile considers it imperative to offer customers with cost-effective solutions that best meet their global design requirements without any compromises.

Based in Bellevue, Wash,. T-Mobile, now with the introduction of the innovative multi-mode IMSI SIM, can help customers to significantly reduce the time and costs associated with the international redesign and redeployment of their telematics, telehealth, and asset management applications.

Before the end of the year, the embedded multi-mode IMSI SIM is expected to be available in the marketplace.

In related news, T-Mobile USA, together with LG Mobile Phones, has announced the availability of the T-Mobile G2x with Google by LG. Powered by Android (News - Alert), the T-Mobile G2x with Google delivers the ultimate entertainment experience through gaming, the Web, and mobile TV.
