The latest generation Vector 9000 will provide Helsinki Taxi with advanced features and functionality such as Navigator Deluxe turn-by-turn navigation, high definition graphics, in-vehicle browser capability and touch screen technology.

Under the agreement, Helsinki Taxi will be upgrading its entire fleet.

The largest taxi operator in Finland, Helsinki Taxi is one of several leading European taxi companies that rely on DDS fleet management technologies.

"DDS has proven itself over several years as a trusted and reliable partner," said Eero Keinanen, chairman of the board of Helsinki Taksi-Data Oy, in a statement.

"We have been very pleased with the performance of the DDS products and services, and are convinced that the Vector 9000 mobile data terminal is the best choice to meet the demanding needs of our taxi business," said Keinanen.

"We are very pleased that Helsinki Taxi has again selected Digital Dispatch Systems to provide its in-vehicle technology. The use of industry-leading technology like the Vector 9000 improves the efficiency of taxi drivers and supports Helsinki Taxi's customer service objectives," said Patrick Nangle, president of Digital Dispatch Systems. "With many of our customers and prospective customers reaching the end of their technology lifecycles, we are very excited about the market prospects of our latest generation technologies," Nangle added.

TMCnet recently reported that DDS Wireless International, a provider of dispatch and fleet management solutions for large fleets, announced its Digital Dispatch Systems and eFleet business units signed six contracts for their TaxiBook and eFleet Bundled Subscription Solutions.

This contract is worth more than $700,000. DDS is currently following a new strategy to win in small and medium size fleets. Winning business in underserved markets is important to the DDS strategy of extending its reach. Small fleet operators comprise over 80 percent of taxi fleets, in North America.
