TAPA Sets New Website in Motion for Improved Transport Security


Designing a new campaign to improve collaboration amongst its members, the Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) recently revealed a new program which enhances the protection of high-value theft-targeted assets (HVTT) and features a multi-faceted interactive website.

Promoting TAPA’s members and communication throughout the TAPA community, the new campaign reaches more than 400 of the world’s largest companies featuring extensive industry research and resources set best-in-class standards for security and transport through facilities.

TAPA Board Member Taya Tuggle, “Cargo theft is a daily problem in many industries that accounts for billions of dollars in lost revenue. The initiatives we’ve announced today will help manufacturers, shippers, law enforcement and government agencies work together more effectively to reduce losses in the supply chain, and help companies preserve their brand integrity, minimize customer inconvenience, and ultimately improve their bottom lines.”        

As a worldwide coalition of manufacturers, carriers, government agencies, and insurers, TAPA’s new website, marketing, and public relations campaign promotes TAPA’s research to prevent theft and other crimes against the transportation supply chain. TAPA develops supply chain security standards and engages with government agencies to secure the sharing of information.

In related news in the transport protection industry, at the ITEXPO (News - Alert) East 2011 in Miami, Nikki Cuban, VP of Marketing and Business Development for OnAsset had an interview with TMC’s Patrick Barnard to discuss the developments in transport security. As a company that helps other companies “enhance a service portfolio in their respective markets, and strengthen it with proactive intervention services and in-transit visibility for a supply chain,” OnAsset invests in preventing cargo theft in the supply chain. Specifically dealing with companies that have to combat spoilage including medicinal products, and produce, OnAsset specializes in freight transport.
