Juniper Research (News - Alert), which provides research and analytical services to the global hi-tech communications sector, has forecasted that M2M will be the key factor that drives a diverse range of industry sectors by the end of 2016, generating $35bn in Service Revenues.
The report analyzes the present state of the Embedded Mobile and M2M market and includes five year forecasts for M2M devices, revenues and data traffic values.
"Industries are at different stages of development when it comes to M2M," says Anthony Cox (News - Alert) of Juniper Research, in a press release.."Commercial automotive telematics are driven by the requirement for fuel efficiency which engine management systems can deliver.”
According to the Juniper Research report, while in-car entertainment systems and infotainment will support telematics growth in the consumer vehicle market, in comparison, the healthcare sector will be slow to take off. However, there is a lot of promise for that sector in the long term.
Analysts state that embedded connectivity appears to have received a shot in the arm with companies, more specifically, M2M enablers, developing important partnerships with carriers. Regulatory initiatives have contributed and will continue to contribute to the growth of the M2M market.
Point of Sale, retail and banking will apparently do well particularly in the developing markets in Latin America but smart metering seems to have slowed down a little, possibly because of class action law suits in the United states.
In related news, the International Data Corporation reported that the European machine-to-machine (M2M) market is quickly recovering from the economic crisis of 2008–2009 and is starting to prosper again with growth rates exceeding 12 percent over the 2010–2015 period.
