NavStar Technologies, Inc., a company delivering products and services for tracking and monitoring of vehicles and high value cargo, equipment, and other valuable and personal assets recently revealed its plans about increasing its focus on the US and Canada trucking industry.

The announcement is followed by the release of a C.J. Driscoll & Associates report, which estimated that 6.5M GPS/Wireless tracking and monitoring devices will be sold to US and Canada trucking companies by the end of 2012. According to the industry experts, the strategy is perfectly well-timed as the trucking markets in US and Canada are poised for huge growth.

In a press release NavStar claimed that its new and smaller asset tracking device is ideal for trucking companies. The product is not only feature-packed, it also complies with the DOT mandate for Electronic On Board Recorders to electronically record a driver's hours of service. At about 3.5" x 2.25" x .75", this vehicle tracking device is claimed to be one of the smallest in the industry. The company is currently conducting field trials and plans to enhance the product on the basis of customer feedback latter. The company further claimed that with 2MB of "on-board" memory the device can store up to 20,000 records and the backup battery will achieve optimal efficiency when combined with the built in motion sensor to maximize power usage.

“With 20M trucking in the US and Canada the opportunity and timing are ideal for NavStar to participate in this market growth predicted for 2011 and 2012. Our reputation for quality is tops in the industry and our service platform is flexible to meet the needs of a wide range of customers. Field trials in the first quarter of 2011 are giving us significant insight to the needs of the trucking companies so we can deliver services that help them improve efficiency and add real money to their bottom line,” the Chairman and CEO of NavStar Technologies, Inc said in a statement.

Last month, NavStar participated in the Mid-America Trucking Show, which was held in Louisville, Kentucky. In a previous press release, the company reported an extremely successful experience at the show. Several fleet managers and owner/operators took interest in the NSTRAK asset tracking monitoring products for both trucks and trailers and several RV rental companies stopped by for a demonstration. The company also reportedly held discussions with multiple strategic partners concerning the NavStar's asset tracking/monitoring products and software for applications outside the trucking industry.
