SBD clients are confused as to whether they should implement car-smartphone integration solution in their vehicles. Nokia has proposed Terminal Mode in-car smartphone integration solution as an industry standard for the next generation of mobile devices and in-car systems. The most important factor that will influence this decision is the consumer attitude towards in-car integration of their smartphones and the features offered.

Rise in popularity of smartphone apps indicates that there might be revolutionary in-car apps for the tech savvy consumer. The time has come for vehicle manufacturers to decide whether to adopt Terminal Mode or to use an alternative in-car integration solution. Based on the developments, SBD has conducted a European end-user survey of Nokia (News - Alert) smartphone owners with navigation (OVI maps), helping the clients to better understand consumer attitudes towards app usage and interest for smartphone screen duplication in the car.

The survey will help to understand how European consumers react to app-based infotainment systems; learn how much consumers are willing to pay for smartphone integration in the car; develop the right strategies based on actual consumer feedback; and reduce the risk of launching the wrong products in this rapidly evolving market.
