Telecom service provider Deutsche Telekom (News
- Alert) announced that it is offering the Machine-to- Machine (M2M) Toolkit to developers and application solution providers to accelerate their M2M application development.
As the kit includes product-ready devices and a complete suite of developer tools, developers will be able to build M2M applications in a wide range of products easily.
Developers can build M2M applications, ranging from an intelligent blood meter to a complete smart home solution. The simple M2M toolkit available from Deutsche Telekom facilitates the process to offer value added services by leveraging the data gathered from machines.
“By providing the M2M Toolkit, Deutsche Telekom reinforces its long-term commitment to the growth of M2M segment, to bring innovative developers and application solution providers to the M2M eco-system, to support them to explore the segment with Deutsche Telekom’s assets, and to enable them to succeed in the new ‘Internet-of-things’ world” said Jurgen Hase, vice president of the M2M Competence Center at Deutsche Telekom, in a statement.
Deutsche Telekom and chip major Intel signed a memorandum of understanding to associate on M2M technologies. The alliance will enable developers to access tool kits and development of standards. Developers can easily design wireless M2M solutions on 3G, WiFi, or Zigbee with a Smart Service Developer Kit based on the Intel (News

“Connecting billions of devices to enable rich classes of smart services requires persistent device connectivity, security, and manageability,” said Kevin Johnson (News - Alert), director of Connected Devices for Intel’s Embedded and Communications Group.
“The combination of the new M2M Toolkit based on the Intel Atom processor with Deutsche Telekom’s network and connectivity services enables a faster rate of innovation and time to market for M2M solutions,” Johnson added.
Recently, Deutsche Telekom announced that it would launch the first long Term Evolution (LTE (News - Alert)) network in Cologne, a major German city. After Cologne, more than 100 other cities in the entire federal territory will be provided with next generation mobile communications.
