A Hudson, Ohio-based provider of high performance device networking and connectivity solutions, Quatech, Inc announced the expansion of their Device Networking product line with the addition of its new Industrial grade Airborne 802.11 b/g Access Points.
In a press release, the M2M leader mentioned that the new product offering includes options for embedded modules for integration into original equipment manufacturer (OEM) designs and external metal enclosure units. The expansion is aimed to benefit the industrial markets requiring ruggedized solutions.
Quatech's Airborne Access Point (News - Alert) technology is ultimately aimed at enabling easy access to data from WiFi-enabled devices, including laptops, tablets and handhelds powered by Android, iOS, or Windows. Airborne Access Point technology includes secure authentication using WPA2 (AES-CCMP) and a fully functional DHCP server to provide unique addresses for each authenticated client, the company claimed in the release.
Airborne Access Points have been designed specifically to address the functional and packaging demands of M2M solutions providers. According to Quatech officials, the integrated Airborne Access Point can turn an isolated piece of equipment in a service truck into a wireless gateway. This creates a local WiFi (News
- Alert) network around the vehicle that enables multiple handhelds and tablets to talk to each other. The network will also allow access to other equipment with embedded WiFi capability in the truck, and even provide access to the internet using a cellular modem.
Airborne Access Points also support Ethernet and serial interfaces, which can be placed in bridge mode to support connection to an existing network of devices, effectively extending access to the network for wireless devices.
Airborne Access Points can be switched from access point to client mode through the web or command line interfaces. The embedded Airborne Model APMG-Q551 module allows OEM customers to incorporate Airborne technology into their 802.11 wireless design solutions, Quatech further revealed.
Few months back Quatech, announced its expanded lineup of Ethernet-to-WiFi products to meet the increased demand from industrial, healthcare and automotive customers.
