AAA Club Partners Collaborates with Hughes Telematics to Launch Connected Vehicle Services


AAA Club Partners (ACP), a holding company of 10 AAA clubs who offer a wide array of automotive, travel, insurance and financial services products, asserted that it has signed an agreement with Hughes (News - Alert) Telematics (HTI), a provider of next-generation connected solutions, in order to develop, test and launch a tailored telematics solution that leverages Hughes’ self-installed In-Drive aftermarket technology.

Through the agreement, the partners intend to chart a program that lets members to use a simple self-installed In-Drive device to realize access to a comprehensive set of connected vehicle services.

AAA Club Partners asserted that it is excited about the partnership and added that it has tradition of providing safety, security and peace of mind to its members. Partnering with HTI will strengthen the benefits it already provides to members. This aftermarket solution will supposedly leverage the strengths and experience of both companies to provide a truly unique consumer offering.

According to Hughes Telematics, the In-Drive Telematics comprehensive set of services is designed to satisfy the ever growing in-vehicle telematics demand for improved safety, security, convenience, maintenance and information services. In-Drive customers have access to a personalized web portal, and for added convenience, many services are accessible via a smartphone application. As a white labeled solution, In-Drive can be branded to accommodate specific brands, customer applications, target market and desired service offerings.

Officials with Hughes ascertained that they see tremendous value in this partnership as they are able to leverage their solutions and collaborate to help build AAA Club Partners' vision of a robust connected vehicle service offering. They are excited about the opportunities this partnership can bring to companies as well as to AAA members that belong to ACP club.

The partners stated that the aftermarket telematics solution is expected to commence with a launch in the second quarter of 2012.
