Certified Tracking Solutions Helped Canadian Police Recover Stolen Goods Worth over $500,000

Alberta based Certified Tracking Solutions (CTS (News - Alert)), a division of B&B Electronics, recently announced that the Airdrie RCMP used CTS’ telematics fleet management system to recover stolen goods worth more than $500,000.

CTS’ GPS fleet management solutions features a mapping interface, which helps clients to easily monitor their assets whether across the street or across the globe. With the real-time access to these fleet management tools, the users are better able to manage their fleets.

According to a B&B press release, over the past few weeks CTS' "best in class" fleet management solutions have led to three separate recoveries of stolen goods by RCMP, Canada's national police service.

Of the three recent incidents, the first one involved Ford F350 truck, while another incident involved a Bobcat. The latest case was related to an expensive stump remover, valued at $100,000. The CTS solution facilitated the recovery and return of the equipment to its rightful owner, the Davey Tree Expert Company.

Davey Tree's area supervisor, Mark Young (News - Alert) reported that the company was notified of the stealing via instant text-message, as well as via email at approximately 4:00 a.m. on August 17th, 2011. The CTS tracking solution ensures that as soon as any piece of Davey Tree's equipment exits their property they are notified by CTS instantly and in real-time. “We are so pleased with CTS' GPS fleet management solutions. Their highly robust GPS device was able to locate our stolen stump remover and instantly notify us. We've come to rely on CTS fleet management solutions to help us keep track of, and locate our fleet on a real-time basis,” Young commented.

After receiving the details of the stolen stump remover, Mark was able to quickly contact the Airdrie RCMP and provide the exact coordinates of the stolen item. The Airdrie RCMP were able to easily locate the stolen stump remover within a short time. This discovery then led to the recovery of a series of stolen pieces of equipment, valued at approximately $500,000.

Thanks to the CTS GPS device that was affixed to the stump remover, the stolen goods could be recovered by the Airdrie RCMP. The GPS system also helped the police to find out the culprit-- a 38 year old Balzac man-- and get him arrested.

“We're proud of the fact that our advanced GPS devices were able to lead to the recovery of Davey Tree's equipment while also allowing the Airdrie RCMP to recover $500,000 worth of stolen equipment. We're passionate about offering our clients specialized, reliable fleet management systems to track and protect their investments globally,” CTS General Manager and Partner Ben Jensen noted in a statement.

Last month B&B Electronics Ltd. announced the signing of an exclusive distribution agreement with ZOMM. This agreement applies to the Canadian marketplace and will be bringing ZOMM to major retailers across Canada this fall.
