The first-responders series will continue with Bob McKeeman, chairman of the board, Utility; and Laine Matthews, director of business development, Wilson Electronics (News - Alert) on next Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 on The Peggy Smedley Show. The discussion will focus on how the two companies partner to provide a robust solution for first responders. Continuing into mid-November, the series began on Aug. 16, 2011. To best serve the public, each 30-minute interview highlights different types of first responders and how they are applying M2M technology, the company stated in a press release.

“Communication can be affected by many factors, and working in the field can be very unpredictable," says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Connected World magazine and host of The Peggy Smedley Show. "By incorporating cellular boosting technology, first responders can achieve realtime situational awareness, which is so critical in emergencies.”

First responders must reach the site and work to remedy the situation as quickly as possible, in the event of an emergency. Communication can be extremely difficult because working conditions are often less than ideal--from burning buildings to the middle of a busy intersection. Extreme weather and natural disasters often make field work not only difficult, but dangerous for utility companies in particular.

Recently, the show brought a new series of radio interviews to the Internet. The new series will feature the first responders, who have used M2M technology and connected devices to better serve the public in the times of emergencies. This series in the Peggy Smedley Show is designed to illustrate how several different types of first responders applying M2M technology to handle the emergency situations. Each 30-minute interview will highlight a first responder and the M2M technology partner.
