A New Telematics Update Report Reveals the Secret of Building up Lucrative Smartphone Integration Ventures


In a recent report, titled "In-Vehicle Smartphone Integration," Telematics Update, a provider of industry focused news, events, reports, updates and information about the automotive telematics, mobile and web industries, examined the various aspects of in -vehicle smartphone integration and offered a guidelines for the creation of lucrative smartphone integration business models.

The report strives to assist tier 1 companies seeking to supply telematics solutions to OEMs, and tier 2 companies in software and application development, identify the areas, where they can generate revenue in the in-vehicle smartphone eco-system

In the report, Telematics Update claimed that to taste success with their smartphone integration business, the developers should be careful to incorporate consumer-friendly features. The features should not only satisfy the consumer expectations, they should also meet with the automaker’s’ smartphone functionality needs.

According to Telematics Industry journalist, Jessica Royer Ocken, consumers are easily drawn to those technologies, which are user-friendly.

“When using technology in a vehicle, efficiency is key, the success of Apple’s (News - Alert) iPod and the love affair with smartphones illustrate how consumers are drawn by ease-of-use,” Ocken noted in a statement.

The In-vehicle Smartphone Integration report aims at suggesting exactly what buyers consider an attractive and viable infotainment system with the help of graphs, statistics and figures. The report maintained that ‘ease of use’ makes an important factor in buyer’s decision making process. The report provided case studies of existing OEM smartphone applications from OnStar, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz USA, BMW and Mini, in support of its view.

“Although touch-screen interfaces are very cool, they’re difficult to use while driving because the smooth surface requires visual contact to find the right button,” Silvio Nasi, sales director for embedded and automotive technologies with Loquendo (News - Alert), an Italy-based company specializing in speech recognition and synthesis technologies, suggested in a statement.

Few months back, Telematics Update named Airbiquity, a global leader in connected vehicle services, winner of two International Telematics Update Awards at Telematics Update Detroit 2011, including the Telematics Leadership Award and the Best Telematics Service & Applications for Commercial Vehicles Award. The awards were given out at an exclusive awards dinner during the 11th annual Telematics Detroit Conference and Exhibition, June 7-9, 2011, in Novi, Michigan.
