Vectalia-Subus Picks MiX Telematics to Manage Public Transport Fleets

MiX Telematics has said that it has reached an agreement with Grupo Vectalia through transport company SUBUS.

Vectalia-Subus is a company dedicated to mobility management. The contract calls on the implementation of fleet management technology for the monitoring and management of the company’s bus and coach fleets in the region of Valencia.

With the help of this agreement, the company expects to obtain detailed real-time information about the activity and location of their vehicles. Company officials said that this will help the company to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, while also improve driver safety.

“After a trial period on some of our vehicles we have opted for MiX Telematics as our tool for advanced management of our fleets,” said Juan Pedro Gomis, technical director at SUBUS, adding that this investment will enable them to improve the safety and performance of our fleets.

Vectalia-Subus has demonstrated commitment to energy efficiency and carbon reduction policies, over the past few years. Company officials believe that the solution from

MiX Telematics will help in achieving this commitment by improving the efficiency of fleets and care for the environment.

“MiX Telematics’ solutions will complement our training plans for our drivers, which focus on improving their driving style in order to reach maximum efficiency and safety levels as well as respect for the environment,” Gomis said.

SUBUS opted to deploy a RIBAS solution functional test on MiX Telematics’ FM Web platform in 30 buses and coaches of different types because of MiX Telematics’ experience in Europe’s bus and coach sector and also its partner’s experience in Spain.

Spain based MiX Telematics’ partner Continental Automotive Spain is responsible for the implementation of the solution in the client’s fleet. Currently, it’s conducting testing to evaluate the progress of the solution against the project’s marked objectives.

Vectalia-Subus obtained positive results obtained during the trial period, and as a result it decided to equip 115 buses with the RIBAS system in a first phase, prior to a possible implementation on the rest of their fleet.

“The positive results of MiX Telematics’ RIBAS system obtained in the initial test allowed SUBUS to analyze and establish significant reductions in fuel consumption as well as driving style guidelines of their bus and coach fleets, which is why they decided to extend their agreement with us,” said Antonio Waller, key accounts manager at MiX Telematics Spain.

Earlier in September, Basic Energy Services selected MiX Telematics to assist with the company's fleet management solutions, MiX Telematics has announced in a press release.
