KORE Telematics, a leading wireless service provider specializing in machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, announced it has expanded the M2M offering with intelligent pricing architecture.
The IntelliRate program is a variable priced M2M product that features automated rating discounts based on data volume consumed. The service is available to customers on its international M2M network offering, KORE Global Connect (News - Alert).
KORE’s intelligent pricing model is designed to lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) and eliminate 'bill shock' associated with such services. The service also improves device management capabilities for global users of M2M network services.
The IntelliRate program was introduced to its North American customer base in 2010. It was hailed as “the industry's first auto-adjusting, elastic tariff structure designed to account for the considerable ebb and flow of device usage, a hallmark of machine communications.”
KORE explains, “For example, a particular device in a user's network may be exception-based and have no need to transmit for a period of weeks or months, while another may have the task of initiating a monthly data backup process, creating a high-volume burst of data at regular intervals. IntelliRate accounts for these variabilities and automatically applies the appropriate data rate.”
IntelliRate service will now be available to all existing customers using KORE Global Connect, as well as new customers. Launched in March this year, KORE Global Connect is an integrated worldwide M2M cellular and satellite network services.
KORE IntelliRate will find application in a number of use case scenarios including seasonal operations such as agriculture; devices that are highly irregular in data usage and are not predictable in terms of high and low data use periods; devices that require periodic, over-the-air firmware updates; and devices that may be roaming in countries and continents, where in some areas the customer prefers that the devices not connect in order to save on wireless network service expenses.
“We're seeing a tremendous amount of activity on a global level and understand that our customers need to scale their businesses while keeping a critical eye toward total cost of ownership,” said Alex Brisbourne, president and COO, KORE, in a statement.
“We've worked diligently to bring together high-reliability networks and a business management platform optimized for global M2M devices and service delivery, while also focusing on tariff management, which was cited repeatedly by customers as a critical component,” Brisbourne added. “Now that our global IntelliRate program is in place we can proudly claim, together with our operator partners, the most comprehensive M2M service delivery platform for global enterprises.”
In other news, KORE Telematics recently announced that Agnik, a data analytics company for distributed, mobile and embedded environments, has selected the KORE network to power its usage-based automobile insurance application.
