Navizon Debuts New Indoor Triangulation System

Navizon, a provider of geo location technology, announced that its newly unveiled Indoor Triangulation System (I.T.S.) is an accurate indoor location positioning system and the technology behind it blends GPS, Wi-Fi and cellular signals making the company the first ever provider to offer a Global Micropositioning solution.

According to the company, The Navizon I.T.S. provides very accurate location of Wi-Fi enabled devices including smart phones, tablets and laptops, anywhere inside a building or campus. Combining both services opens up exciting possibilities for positioning, tracking people and devices, as well as marketing and security surveillance.

In location Wi-Fi enabled devices, the solution works very silently and unobtrusively in the background and the device in any coverage area is tracked by a network of nodes. The phone that needs to be tracked does not require any special app – all that is required is the Wi-Fi radio to be turned on which is default for most of the smart phones, laptops and tablets.

The company added that the creators of Navizon I.T.S. are the same technology developers who patented and added Wi-Fi and cellular triangulation to satellite-based location technology, which is used every day on most mobile devices around the world.

Officials with Navizon commented that Navizon I.T.S. breaks new ground in the location industry adding room-level indoor location to Navizon’s global positioning solution. They call the combination of these two technologies Global Micropositioning because it allows for precise and easy-to-read geolocation anywhere in the world – outdoors and indoors. It closes the location information gap left from prior technologies.

They added that the location determination is performed by small Navizon devices, called “nodes.” Navizon’s I.T.S. nodes are located within 100 feet of each other covering a three dimensional area, such as a multi-story building or multi-building campus. No wiring or complicated set-up is necessary. The nodes are strategically arranged to ensure reliable triangulation, and plug into an electrical outlet for power, automatically configuring into a wireless network.
