Hughes (News - Alert) Telematics, specializing in the provision of next generation connected solutions, announced that it has inked an agreement with Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. (VWGoA) for providing Volkswagen connected vehicle services beginning in 2013.
The agreement entails the two companies to bring to market a comprehensive suite of connected services in Volkswagen vehicles for safety and security, convenience, and diagnostics besides offering drivers a new level of service and accessibility.
In a release Rainer Michel, vice president product marketing and strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc, said, “We are excited to partner with Hughes Telematics as we introduce Connected Services to our Technology portfolio. With the introduction of the Hughes Telematics solution, we can reliably add new features throughout the life of our products. Our partnership with Hughes Telematics further extends our commitment to innovation and technology leadership.”
It is expected that Hughes Telematics’ versatile architecture will give support for Volkswagen’s Connected Services portfolio along with customer service systems and emergency support personnel. Volkswagen and Hughes Telematics will offer personalized services that will enhance the driving and ownership experience, noted officials.

Goldman added that Volkswagen’s expertise and experience in developing state-of-the-art technology along with the optimized telemetric architecture and experience will help the company deliver a robust set of services to serve the needs of drivers.
