Cinterion, a pioneer in the M2M sector, and Gemalto (News - Alert) company, along with Inside M2M, provider of business communications solutions for the data in machine-to-machine communication, and MC Technologies (MCT), provider of Machine-to-Machine (M2M) applications solutions, have jointly announced the successful remote monitoring of 100,000 Konica Minolta (News - Alert) multifunctional office machines that leverage the M2M communications, remote monitoring and management solution which has been jointly developed by Cinterion and its partners.
In a release, Norbert Muhrer (News - Alert), CEO of Cinterion, said, "We were pleased to meet the challenges of this large, worldwide implementation. Our collaboration demonstrates Cinterion's value as a trusted partner, with the global expertise necessary to support swift implementation timelines, and superior ROI for integrators and their end-user customers."
The award-winning Java module from Cinterion (News - Alert) has been designed to deliver secure wireless data communications and is capable of running application software which supports both the management and maintenance requirements of office machines located anywhere across the globe. By leveraging the joint solution, Konica Minolta can easily monitor a range of office equipment such as printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines located in the field. The solution also allows easy management and maintenance as well as remote diagnostics before the occurrence of any problem.
Frank Ziemer, Team Manager, Optimized Print Services Support at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, said, "Konica Minolta's powerful remote care concept maximizes uptime, optimizes workloads and provides clear cost savings for our customers. Cooperation with our valued partners was essential to successfully connecting more than 100,000 devices."
Inside M2M's embedded Java client gathers machine data from an attached MCT terminal and securely communicates with the Cinterion module over wireless networks back and forth to a backend server from Inside M2M. By using a computer, smartphone, or connected device, system administrators can sign in to receive critical updates and alerts. As soon as a problem occurs, the system delivers an alert to the service managers either through SMS, email or delivers an alert to the web portal enabling them to respond in time.
Derek Uhlig, CEO of Inside M2M, said, "We chose Cinterion as our communication technology partner for its well respected M2M and security expertise as well as its engineering support in local markets around the world. Cinterion's Java module is crucial for simultaneous software hosting and secure communications, allowing cost efficiencies by eliminating the need for additional processors and complexity."
