The GTM 601W is Option's first Landed Grid Array (LGA) wireless module to complete such testing, the company announced.

“The IOT represents another milestone in our collaboration and further demonstrates our experience and expertise in bringing trusted embedded solutions to market,” Bernard Schaballie, general manager of Embedded Solutions at Option, said in a statement carried on TMCnet. “Connectivity is already moving into new markets and verticals beyond 'traditional' terminals. Network operators need to provide connectivity, security and a seamless user experience in a whole range of mobile devices."

The GTM 601W offers a lot – even though it’s about as small as a postage stamp and about as skinny as a Yen. The module meets the needs of consumer electronic devices, handheld devices, netbooks, routers and tablets, the company said. It’s also very appropriate for “high bandwidth M2M applications,” the company adds. These may include automotive, digital signage or security cameras. It is also appropriate for small consumer electronics devices. The GTM 601W is also very good at handling heat dissipation.  The module also features GSM/HSPA, GPS/ GLONASS and circuit-switched voice, the company said.

Option provides solutions for wireless broadband access to the Internet. Option is located in Leuven, Belgium. Research & Development offices are in Belgium and Germany. The company also has an ISO 9001 production engineering and logistics facility in Ireland. Other offices are in Europe, the United States, China and Japan, according to the company’s website.

Option projects that its revenues for the second half of 2011 to be similar with those of the first six months of the year. Third quarter revenues at the company during 2011 increased from the same quarter of 2010, according to a company press release.
