Remote tracking and monitoring of cargo shipments has always been an important issue for shipping companies worldwide. With the help of latest innovations being made by various technology companies, it has become possible to keep a close eye upon the shipments in a better and enhanced manner.
OnAsset Intelligence Inc., a provider of machine-to-machine (M2M) wireless devices and software solutions that allow its customers wirelessly locate, track, connect, and manage fixed and mobile assets, has announced that its OnAsset (News - Alert) SENTRY 400 FlightSafe device has been selected by United Cargo, a well known belly carrier. The device will be deployed within United Cargo’s comprehensive mainline jet fleet of more than 700 aircraft that connect over 370 destinations globally.
The Irving, Texas-based company offers a range of solutions such as SENTRY wireless hardware, FlightSafe for air cargo tracking and ContainerSafe for shipping container security. In addition, it provides a web-based Vision Platform to enable worldwide wireless connectivity services.
With the help of the OnAsset device, enterprises can now benefit from enhanced shipment tracking and security features, getting advanced information about accurate location, environmental sensing, virtual security-fencing and temperature monitoring about the cargo shipments transported through United Cargo’s network.
“It’s a potent combination for our customers,” commented Robbie Anderson, president at United Cargo. “The SENTRY 400 FlightSafe delivers peace of mind, and enhanced visibility over several of our key products: UASecure high value, QuickPak and EXP express offerings as well as TempControl.”
An advanced wireless personal electronic device, the SENTRY 400 features a number of sensors for accurately gauging temperature, humidity, pressure, shock, location and vibration. Leveraging a patented intelligence technology named FlightSafe, the SENTRY 400 automatically suppresses its wireless radios to an “off” mode during flight by using a number of sensing and proprietary logic modes. It enables a safe and FAA- compliant operation. SENTRY 400 is the only device that uses the Intelligent Radio Suppression feature to turn its radio on and off without human intervention.
“Visibility to the condition of environmentally sensitive cargo as it moves through the supply chain helps companies proactively intervene in situations that may impact the quality of the cargo prior to reaching its destination,” said Adam Crossno, president and chief executive officer at OnAsset Intelligence. “We are very excited to be working with United Airlines on the acceptance of SENTRY for air cargo to provide a solution that maintains its radio-off- mode for aircraft safety, while also providing automatic activation in order to safely transmit data logs to customers when the device is on the ground.”
