RACO Wireless has announced that it’s going to participate in the implementation of wireless credit card authentication and gift card activation for OpenMotion’s new ConnectNow Custom Gift Card Kiosk. OpenMotion is a mobile marketing company.

The new kiosk works as a self-service interface, letting customers create their own gift cards from a preferred retailer, with a unique logo that presents meaning to the person who receives the gift. The customer can select the occasion – such as a birthday or Thanksgiving – and choose a design related to that occasion. The customer can then purchase the card and print it through the portal.

ConnectNow Custom Gift Card Kiosk puts technologies like a touchscreen display, an ergonomic self-service environment, card printing and real-time authentication for credit cards together into one package. The authentication will use wireless networking hardware that communicates with other machines (M2M) by RACO Wireless.

RACO Wireless is a company that deals with wireless connectivity applications for machine-to-machine (M2M) communication applications through T-Mobile’s (News - Alert) network. OpenMotion plans to take advantage of RACO Wireless’ Omega Management Suite to provide for its SIM management in its kiosks. Eventually, the kiosks will be part of many large retailers within the United States. Omega Management Suite is an interface that gets devices noticed within a wireless network and allows for simpler SIM management in almost any device.

The ConnectNow Custom Card Kiosk will also enable customers to specify how much money they would like to charge the cards with. Its ability to print customized and vivid cards will get rid of one of the biggest drawbacks to getting a gift card – fear of not appearing to put thought into the gift.
