Beecham Research, Ltd., a Cambridge, UK-based technology market research, analysis and consulting firm has announced to launch a new research report that states that the Service Enablement Services will emerge as a game changing factor within the M2M market in near future.

The company dedicatedly focuses its attention upon the rapidly growing global M2M market and the “Remote Device Management and Services,” also known as the “Internet of Things and Embedded Mobile.”

Emphasizing that the SES (News - Alert) will acquire a total market value of $2.2 billion worldwide by 2014, the new study by Beecham Research titled “M2M Service Enablement Services Report” also adds that the total market value of these services was just $350 million in the year 2011. Service Enablement Services work as an intermediary layer between the network airtime connectivity and the end-user value added services such as fleet management and security alarm services. At present, a large number of SES need to be upgraded to comply with the new applications being launched in the market, which has been considerably hindering the growth of worldwide M2M markets. Yet, if the enterprises begin offering these Service Enablement Services as an integral part of the SES platforms, it will result in reduce the time taken in introducing these services to the market, which will further boost the revenue growth and render the overall process low cost and streamlined, the report suggests.

“We see the revenue opportunity for these services, small now in comparison with network revenue, growing at more than twice the rate of network revenue over the next few years. In doing so, it will also help to drive market development at the end-user service level,” commented Robin Duke-Woolley, chief executive officer at Beecham Research. “This is a rapidly-moving area. We have now looked at more than 60 platforms being offered in the M2M market, up from about 20 in our first study just 18 months ago, and we know of more coming soon. However, the challenge of interoperability and standardization among so many different offerings remains. We expect to see a significant amount of platform innovation and corporate partnering activities over the coming one to two years.”

Over 200 enterprises looking at integrating M2M capabilities to their products and services were surveyed during the nine month study by Beecham Research. The respondent firms have been some of the early adopters of the SES offerings, and have been picked from seven key vertical markets so that business needs and revenue possibilities in multiple sectors could be analyzed.
