IGEN Acquires Equity Interest in Machlink


IGEN Networks Corporation, a developer of technologies that include wireless data content, broadband infrastructure, Software-as-a-Service and M2M based applications, signed a definitive agreement with Canadian corporation Machlink for both distribution and the purchase of equity between the companies.

Under the terms of this agreement, IGEN said it will acquire an 8 percent equity position in Machlink and distribution rights for its product line. Also, IGEN and Machlink will work together to market a wireless extension of HFC broadband infrastructure along with M2M video analytic solutions for enterprise and commercial markets.

Machlink Corporation is a developer of wireless broadband technology including high speed broadband wireless internet, digital phone service, wireless telephone service, multi-channel digital TV, FM radio and smart video solution. In January 2011, the company announced a nationwide Integrated Communication System (ICS) for personal and corporate connectivity.

IGEN claims to be utilizing its expertise to integrate technologies, expand distribution channels, and drive growth through its product portfolio and strategic partner companies. The company seeks out synergistic technologies that bring together broadband infrastructure solutions to facilitate the delivery of SaaS (News - Alert) re-occurring revenue model. IGEN has established relationships in several countries of the Caribbean along with identified markets in Canada, the US and Central America.

On May, 2011, IGEN signed a letter of intent to acquire 100 percent stake in Machlink. Followed by this, IGEN also invested with Machlink in developing a comprehensive mobile demonstration unit.

Recently, IGEN Networks’ subsidiary IGEN Business Solutions Inc. announced the signing of a world-wide distribution agreement with Star Solutions International Inc., an edge All-IP wireless broadband infrastructure supplier, to offer wireless broadband solutions for its target markets that include underserved communities, disaster and first-response services, and private enterprise networks.
