Sierra Wireless (News
- Alert) will offer its machine-to-machine or M2M cloud platform and hardware solution to Nestle Nespresso SA. Nespresso coffee machines, which are used in restaurants, hotels, offices, and luxury retail boutiques, will now leverage the Sierra’s solution.
The AirVantage M2M Cloud Platform had been used to develop the Sierra solution, which uses the AirLink (News - Alert) GL6100 programmable modem. Nespresso will now be able to offer the best dedicated professional services to its business clients using this solution. The Sierra solution will help Nespresso to operate the machines at the most favorable pressure and temperature, thereby producing the best quality coffee. With the Sierra solution guaranteeing proper maintenance of the machines, Nespresso will also be able to deliver comprehensive after-sales services.
In a release, Marco Zancolo, head of B2B Channels at Nestle Nespresso S.A. said, “Highest quality coffee and a personalized service are at the core of the Nespresso brand. We continuously seek to innovate in our business-to-business offerings, providing solutions to meet the needs of the most discerning business customers and hosts in the hospitality business. We expect that this innovative solution, powered by the Sierra Wireless AirVantage M2M Cloud Platform, will further ensure that Nespresso will consistently deliver simplicity, reliability and a rewarding coffee experience for our clients' customers and colleagues.”
The groundwork for implementing and combining the M2M solution was carried out by Sierra Wireless in partnership with Nespresso and Orange (News - Alert) Business Services. The wireless data network services for Nespresso’s coffee machines across the world will be offered by Orange.
The Nespresso coffee machines will be tracked by the AirLink GL6100 programmable modem from Sierra, to send operational and business information to the AirVantage Platform using Orange’s wireless network.
Emmanuel Walckenaer, senior vice president for Solutions and Services at Sierra Wireless said, “Nespresso now has a global M2M solution and a single software interface to streamline the technical support and business services it offers to its customers around the world. The end-to-end solution integrates hardware and software with a dedicated connection to the Orange wireless data service. This speeds the deployment and simplifies the operation of the connected coffee machines across all of Nespresso's markets.”
