According to officials with Telular (News - Alert) Corporation, the “Wi-PATH SX7” has completed certification through Verizon’s open development program and provides a cost-effective, flexible choice for connecting businesses and machines over wireless networks.

Included as part of the offering is a SX7T terminal and SX7M modem, which lead to high-quality services over cellular, such as allowing machines to connect to other machines wirelessly.

Usage is expected to include wireline replacement, portable dial tone and remote data access, as well as connecting office equipment to cellular networks.

Anthony A. Lewis, vice president of open development at Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, said the new terminals are not only cost-effective, but are also a good solution for customers switching to cellular phone use or are in remote locations.

“Through the certification of this entire product line we can now offer our customers more connectivity options, at different price points and distinct feature sets, in order to take advantage of our vast network,” Lewis said.

Through Verizon Wireless’ network-only option, customers can use wireless devices not offered by the company like the SX7 series via the Verizon network.

Analyst firm Berg Insight has predicted that the number of cellular network connections used for M2M communications will grow from 37.5 million in 2007, at a compound annual growth rate of 37.9 percent, to 186 million connections in 2012.

“The reliability of both the Verizon Wireless network and Telular’s fixed cellular terminals allow us to offer robust capabilities and address a variety of markets with economical solutions,” said Shawn Welsh, vice president of marketing and business development at Telular.
