OnAsset Intros ContainerSafe for Shipping Container Security

OnAsset, a provider of machine-to-machine, or M2M wireless asset tracking, sensing, and control solutions, has said that high-value cargo moved by shipping containers can now be transported more securely across land and sea with their new SENTRY ContainerSafe product.

The ContainerSafe solution is capable of letting companies keep track of their cargo around the clock, ensuring immediate notification of any unauthorized activity during transit. The company said its solution drastically reduces the possibilities of theft during cargo in-transit.
Officials with OnAsset said that they understood that the problem for container security solutions has been the lack of wireless product that installs easily inside of the container, un-tethered and autonomously powered, ensuring load security regardless of where the container travel. They designed ContainerSafe to overcome this problem.
According to OnAsset, its ContainerSafe is an anti-theft solution and deterrent that also provides the highest degree of visibility to container position and status and helps shipping companies enhance their supply chain visibility and reduce the risk of container tampering and theft. OnAsset tamper evidence solutions include a variety of sensor options, wireless communications services, and access to the OnAsset Platform, a Web-based Software-as-a-service system, for automated container management, alarming, and notification.
Shippers of goods or intermodal carriers can easily install the OnAsset unit on a container once it is loaded and the installation and removal process takes less than one minute, requiring no tools, and minimizing the impact of operations personnel handling the load. After the container is sealed the unit then registers itself with the OnAsset platform providing visibility to container security and status throughout the duration of the trip.
The combination of ContainerSafe with the OnAsset Platform provides more than a position-tracking system for the authorities concerned and the full solution also enables them to monitor container dwell time, load status and chain of custody.
In addition, real-time notifications can be created when containers enter or depart unique points of interest like customs locations and major depots. Full routes can also be managed with the help of unique business rules that can be applied to create alarms and notifications to email and text addresses if containers veer off course.
OnAsset said that its device runs on a fully integrated DSP microprocessor with low-power sleep modes and is also capable of running multi-threaded algorithms and Data encryption. The communication options are available for satellite, cellular, MESH, or Wi-Fi. The unit comes equipped with GPS, a door sensor and a variety of load monitoring options including shock, temperature, humidity and light sensors.
In other news, OnAsset recently announced an agreement with Qualcomm (News - Alert) and OnAsset and Secutor Systems forged a manufacturing partnership.
