Telular Corp. (

Alert), a major player in wireless communications technology, has
reportedly entered into strategic agreement with Telefónica México, one of the cellular network operators in Mexico with over 16.2 million subscribers, to offer remote tank monitoring solutions.
According to Telular officials, the Telefónica México will private label its TankLink monitoring solution under the brand name TeleControl-Gas.
The company officials said that Telefónica México selected the TankLink solution as part of their long-term strategy to offer wireless data-centric services to a larger commercial customer base.
TankLink remote inventory management solutions deliver highly-accurate, 24/7 tank level information necessary for efficient and cost-saving replenishment decisions. And, TankLink helps suppliers, distributors, and production managers increase operations productivity and effectiveness.
“Over the past two years, Telular and Telefónica México have discussed many ways to bring more than their economical and feature rich fixed wireless terminals to Mexico,” Sergio Chueca, sub director of value added services and content of Telefónica México, said in a statement.
Chueca said that TankLink’s remote tank monitoring solution allows the company to immediately use GSM network to offer the commercial customers, who strive for greater efficiency and security, a broader set of services.
“We are excited to be once again working with Telefónica México as we continue to expand our reach into Latin America. Our collaboration will ensure that their customers will be able to leverage our machine-to-machine (M2M) technology and their local wireless expertise,” Joe Beatty, president and CEO of Telular.
Beatty said that this agreement spotlights the extensibility of the M2M architecture, not only between industries but across borders.
In March, Telular announced that Arbitron Inc. was using the company’s fixed cellular terminals to increase participation in its electronic radio ratings services by young millennials who do not have a landline in their apartment or house.
Telular’s terminals connect with Arbitron’s Portable People Meter, or “PPM (
