C-motech (News - Alert) Co., Ltd., a supplier of wireless data cards and modules, has reportedly chosen Red Bend's vRapid Mobile for firmware over-the-air, or “FOTA,” updating and vDirect Mobile for device management, or “DM,” in the CMU-300 USB data modem.

 

Red Bend Software (News - Alert) is a company specializing in Mobile Software Management, or “MSM,” solutions. vRapid Mobile FOTA is said to offer huge benefits including; reduced support costs and increased consumer satisfaction by remotely updating firmware with new functionality and software improvements. vDirect Mobile is an independent device management client offering built-in support for WiMAX (News - Alert) and interoperability with any Open Mobile Alliance DM server, or “OMA DM.” It is said to enable operators to provision, configure, support and update mobile devices over the air.

 

What’s more, Red Bend’s MSM solutions is capable of enabling important firmware updates to be delivered over the air and offers standards-based configuration and management of the CMU-300, which, as stated, is available in the United States through Sprint (News - Alert) as the U300.

C-motech claims it’s CMU-300 is the first device in the world that supports both EVDO, a 3G standard for high-speed wireless broadband, and WiMAX, a 4G technology for more advanced data transfer speeds that is compatible with High-Speed Downlink Packet Access, or “HSDPA.”

 

Through this current deal, CMU-300's dual-mode now not only allows C-motech's customers to roam between 3G and 4G coverage areas in the United States, but also enables them to receive new functionality and software improvements over the air with Red Bend's MSM solutions.

 

Other than USB modems, Red Bend's MSM solutions are widely adopted for use in mobile broadband PC cards, machine-to-machine wireless modules, mobile handsets and other wirelessly connected devices.
