With Qualcomm’s GobiTM technology, customers enjoy the freedom of secure mobile Internet connectivity on the Sprint (News - Alert) 3G Mobile Broadband network and also virtually anywhere in the world via Sprint roaming partner networks just by reprogramming the software, said company officials.

The single embedded router is easily scalable and reprogrammable to support multiple wireless networks worldwide. As a result, machine-to-machine equipment, sensor and control manufacturers also can develop global solutions with Gobi technology, said company officials.

The Top Global (News - Alert) MB7900 supports all key 2G/3G standards. Company officials said that it offers rapid Internet access and GPS functionality in a portable package that can fit in any M2M equipment, sensor and control panel.

The MB7900 links Sprint’s 3G cellular network with existing WiFi (News - Alert), GPS, LAN, WAN, Serial and USB-powered devices, while additional features, such as the built-in auto-failover, power different configurations of WAN networks and GPS tracking systems.

Dr. Alan Zhen Zhou, president and CTO at Top Global, said the company’s patented MobileBridge technology, the MB7900, comes with rich security features. These features include SPI Firewall, Anti-attack, URL filter, IPSec VPN client and Remote Central Management capabilities for device management, firmware upgrade, configuration, Sprint service activation and provisioning, and more.

Wayne Ward, vice president of Emerging Solutions at Sprint, said that the network scalability and dependability of the MB7900 make it an “ideal choice” for applications in business continuity, homeland security, mobile surveillance, digital signage, vending/retailing/point of sales, in-vehicle data connectivity and asset management.

“We are excited to be the first to offer the Top Global MB7900, and it is a great addition to our industry-leading portfolio of M2M embedded devices available from Sprint,” he added.

With MB7900, customers who do business internationally can send and receive large amounts of data at broadband speeds via embedded Qualcomm (News - Alert) Gobi technology with EV-DO Rev. A. Plus, it’ll enable average upload speeds of 400-700 kbps and download speeds of between 600 kbps and 1.4 Mbps, said company officials.

“Qualcomm’s Gobi technology delivers a new level of flexibility, providing data capabilities over both EV-DO and HSPA networks, as well as GPS functionality almost anywhere in the world via leading 3G networks,” said Barry Matsumori, vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies.

Currently, the MB7900 is available for purchase in tandem with Sprint’s Mobile Broadband Data Access Plan.
