Pulse Introduces New Set of Monopole Antennas

Pulse, a Technitrol (News - Alert) company and a global provider of electronic component and subassembly design and manufacturing, reportedly introduced its new set of monopole antennas.

These new devices have the capability to deliver Zigbee 2.4 gigahertz (GHz) and ISM bands 868 megahertz, 915 MHz, and 2.4GHz. The company said that these products can be used to trace antennas as they occupy very little printed circuit board space while maintaining their key properties regardless of changes to the board.

The new set of monopole antennas can provide a high-quality radio interface for multi-purpose machine-to-machine devices and applications. Pulse (News - Alert) says this set can deliver to a range of applications including data loggers, remote control, tracking, monitoring, smart grid, automated meter reading, tags, remote keyless entry, industrial, metering, security, automation, and point-of-sale.

The small sized monopole family of ceramic antennas is ideally suited to solutions where PCB size is limited for the antenna. The products detune less due to human tissue proximity or device mechanics thanks to the high temperature ceramic material used in the monopole family.

This capability ensures that they are best suited for hand-held or body worn products and can be used for multiple functions because their operating frequencies can be changed simply by implementing different matching circuits.

Elaine Baxter, marketing manager, pulse wireless devices antenna division, said the range of emerging applications in the M2M sector due to which designers require an antenna solution which accommodates different ground plane sizes and product dimensions.

Baxter said that the company’s new range of ZigBee and ISM band ceramic monopole antennas provides users with a comprehensive and flexible portfolio, which can be matched to the majority of M2M applications.

“They provide more reliability and higher performance than traditional trace antennas used on the PCB,” Baxter said.

The prices of all Pulse monopole antennas range from 25 cents to 55 cents and may vary according to destination and order configuration.
