Gemalto Wins 2009 SmartGrid Product of the Year Award


Gemalto, a company offering end-to-end security solutions, has announced that its MASSIM solution has received a 2009 SmartGrid Product of the Year Award from Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC) and Intelligent Communications Partners (News - Alert).

Officials at Gemalto said that they have developed the MASSIM solution to serve the smart grid service needs in the market.
 
The MASSIM concept helps particularly to detect if a machine-to-machine wireless network subscriber identification module has been removed from a utility meter and placed illegally within another device.
 
It is an M2M-specific solution that caters the essential connectivity element within the smart grid ecosystem is tamper proof, protecting the utility and wireless operator from fraud. MASSIM is highly customizable with multiple environmental sensing parameters and sends a service provider alert in the event of unexpected change.

According to Frédéric Vasnier, SVP Telecom at Gemalto (News - Alert), MASSIM is continuously sensing its environment, protecting assets and allowing for tamper proof denial of network access.
 
Vasnier added that his company is honored to receive this award recognizing its commitment to advancing the innovation and demanding security needs for machine-to-machine applications and smart grid technologies.

Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO, TMC said that the SmartGrid.TMCnet.com is pleased to grant a 2009 Product of the Year Award to Gemalto for their MASSIM. He said the Gemalto has proven they are committed to quality and excellence while addressing real needs in the marketplace.

The smart grid Product of the Year Award recognizes those achievers that deliver smart grid technology products brought to market in 2009. The solutions should be included on this elite list of the industries finest and differentiate the product from the competition.
