Satellite data modems are used to remotely track, monitor and control valuable mobile assets like heavy equipment, trucks, locomotives, rail cars and shipping containers, to remotely connect QUAKE’s Q-Pro and Q4000 smart modems to cellular networks for expanded asset tracking and increased reliability. These fully programmable devices can be integrated into applications that already exist or act as complete standalone solutions. For QUAKE’s compact Q-Pro and Q4000, Telit’s GE865-QUAD is the ideal module.

The Q-Pro and Q4000 have earned PTCRB (News - Alert) certification, and are available right away for deployment on select cellular networks in the U.S. They are perfect solutions for monitoring mobile assets as they have a small size, rugged form factor and can withstand extreme shocks and sustained vibration levels. QUAKE customers can use both satellite and GSM/GPRS wireless delivery systems for tracking locations, as well as optional GPS capabilities that include complicated geo-fencing.

According to Sergio Ramos, Chief Technology Officer of Quake Global, Inc., Telit’s quality assurance will facilitate them to deliver useful, trustworthy products to their customers. They were able to design more compact asset tracking devices with the miniature sized Telit’s module. “We have selected Telit based on its proven record around its Ball-Grid Array (BGA) installation concept, low power draw, and excellent design support”, he added.

Important customers of QUAKE comprises the world’s most recognized brand names in the construction and heavy equipment market, and is built upon their deep experience in developing global asset tracking technology. According to Michael Ueland, Vice-President and General Manager of Telit Wireless Solutions, QUAKE’s selection of Telit’s GE865-QUAD module symbolizes an important milestone in the launch of their GE865-QUAD product and a testament of Telit innovation.

Telit’s GE865-QUAD is one among the initial products of the company to incorporate a next-generation quad-band GSM/GPRS chipset from Infineon, providing the basis for the module’s innovative single-chip design solution. The module also features tape and reel packaging and an integrated TCP/IP protocol stack that provides support for UDP (News - Alert), FTP and SMTP though AT commands.
