RF Monolithics (News - Alert) Inc., a provider of solutions-driven, technology-enabled wireless connectivity for a broad range of wireless applications, has announced the appointment of Farlin A. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, the company offers its solutions and services in the form of individual standardized and custom components to modules for comprehensive industrial wireless sensor networks and M2M technology. Additionally, the company offers various discrete Surface Acoustic Wave or 'SAW' resonators in a broad range of frequencies from 300 MHz to over 1 GHz. These products are designed to be the frequency control element in transmitters and receiver local oscillators, and help the enterprises in achieving reduced receiver bandwidths, which results in improved sensitivity and immunity to interference.

The SAW Resonator product family provided by RFM includes one and two-port types, out of which the RO series is a line of true one-port devices with a lumped element model that is similar to that of a bulk crystal device. One-port resonators are typically used in modified Colpitts oscillator configurations where the resonator is connected between the base of a transistor and ground.

In a release, David M. Kirk, President and Chief Executive Officer of RFM, said the company continues to confirm its strategic focus on the M2M market, with emphasis on wireless sensor networks. He said RFM recently increased the amount of resources it is devoting to support future growth -- and the appointment of Farlin to manage the M2M business shows that RFM is solidifying its commitment to and strategic focus on the M2M market.

Halsey said the company is excited to leverage its existing M2M presence with additional promotion and expanded product roadmaps. He noted that RFM believes these actions will drive its future success in the M2M market, as company's initial effort is to develop much greater awareness for RFM, and its products.

The company has introduced several new products in the past 12-18 months that will have an increasing impact as we go forward, and is currently targeting wireless sensor network applications in the M2M market that are best suited for its existing capabilities, Halsey added.

In March RF Monolithics announced that it had secured a multi-year agreement with a major medical equipment manufacturer for its ultra-low power short-range radio, the Virtual Wire transceiver.
