OnAsset Intelligence Inc., a provider of machine-to-machine or "M2M" wireless asset tracking, sensing, and control solutions has announceda new service application in partnership with TransCore, a company offering transportation services.
According to company officials, the new application will help customers in paying for cargo security per day of active use while the cargo is in transit, which will also enable them to track and monitor high-value cargo on a per shipment basis.
The new solution, which is named ContainerSafe, is available the customers for as little as $7 per day, and leverages TransCore's complete forward and reverse logistics program, to monitor the device from point of origin to destination in real-time over T-Mobile's (News - Alert) global network, while the customers don't have to pay huge upfront capital expenditures for the service.
The application has been designed for self-service monitoring of most shipping containers, through which the products can be equipped with multiple sensors to track location, monitor the status of the container and goods inside, and to deter, detect, and delay theft.
The devices can be installed or removed in less than one minute, without requiring any tools for the installation or removal. Further, the solution features breach detection sensors which ensure that once the container is loaded, no attempts to reopen the container during transit can occur without notification. Additionally, the devices are reusable and have been designed to be an integral component of any intermodal carrier's cargo security strategy.
According to Adam Crossno, president and CEO of OnAsset, historically, the customers' challenge has been the business framework required to seamlessly adopt wireless monitoring and security technologies into their everyday workflow. Crossno noted that with this new easy-to-use turnkey solution, OnAsset is significantly impacting the visibility, security, and control its customers have within their supply chain. In addition to real-time monitoring, notification and logistics support, the ContainerSafe solution is unlocked via OnAsset's software-as-a-service platform to provide information access and back-office integration connectivity to ERP systems like SAP or Oracle (News - Alert), Crossno added.
