U.K.-based online telematics service provider Cybit has successfully completed a new Fleetstar implementation for Volvo Construction Equipment Division, Volvo Group UK Ltd.

Fleetstar-Online is Cybit's scalable suite of Internet-based Mobile Resource Management and vehicle tracking tools. Fleetstar allows meaningful business decisions to be made using up to the minute information on operational performance, according to officials.

The efficiency of Volvo Construction Equipment has increased manifolds since the implementation as Fleetstar now enables the company to react quickly to customer calls. The solution also allows Volvo to manage its service engineers more effectively and deliver increased quality of service to customers.

By using Fleetstar's customisable reports Volvo Construction Equipment is able to establish and monitor benchmarks for its customer service level agreements (SLAs).

Commenting on the benefits of the deployment, Glynn Redshaw, national service manager, Volvo Construction Equipment Division said that Fleetstar has fitted in perfectly with their business.

Redshaw noted that the consultants have exhibited an exceptional understanding of their goals, how the system can fully complement what Volvo is trying to achieve.

Volvo is using several reports from Fleetstar to ensure that none of their drivers travel excessive distances. Redshaw said that all this information is very easy to extract and its simplicity has made a very significant difference to their construction business.

Telematics is increasing in popularity and according to John Wisdom, sales and marketing director at Cybit, its role is becoming more and more integral to operating a business efficiently and with optimum effectiveness.

"Our work with Volvo Construction Equipment shows how vital an effective partnership with a telematics specialist can be - for example, we helped Glynn and his team recover a stolen van on a Sunday morning! In addition to these exceptional instances, telematics makes a meaningful and strategic impact on a range of day-to-day essentials, such as driver health and safety and operational efficiency."
