Quake Global, Inc., a manufacturer of ORBCOMM (News - Alert) M2M modems, has unveiled next generation of satellite modems for the ORBCOMM satellite network with the Q4000 and Q-Pro series of QUAKE products.
Officials with Quake Global said that these robust, reliable and configurable devices have received Type Acceptance Testing (TAT (News - Alert)) approval from ORBCOMM and units are available for immediate delivery.
"ORBCOMM and Quake have a more than decade long partnership," said Marc Eisenberg, CEO of ORBCOMM, in a statement.
"These new devices reflect the our shared vision to expand our leadership position to new M2M markets such as security, marine and transportation as well and others that have so far been previously underserved in data acquisition," said Eisenberg.
He said that when configured as dual mode, these new devices provide satellite coverage and cellular bandwidth at prices that are lower than other satellite-only services with similar capabilities.
Company officials said that though small enough to fit in one's hand, the Q4000 is a rugged industrial grade modem with dual-mode operation over the ORBCOMM satellite network and GSM terrestrial networks.
With embedded GPS, the highly customizable Q4000/Q-Pro are versatile, all-in-one remote asset tracking solutions.
According to company officials, they are designed to meet stringent automotive power conditioning requirements and have extremely low power consumption for extended battery operation.
The Q4000/Q-Pro also incorporates an application programming interface (API) that allows developers to utilize their functions to create customized onboard applications.
"QUAKE has long-standing relationship with ORBCOMM. Our partnership has secured a leading position amongst OEM customers, which has become a great success story for both our companies," said Polina Braunstein, CEO of Quake Global.
Braunstein said that QUAKE provides highly reliable and cost-effective solutions for the ORBCOMM network.
"With our new family of products we can now offer our customers global communication over the ORBCOMM satellite network in conjunction with global GSM networks. Our new Q4000 and Q-Pro devices are the perfect reflection of market demand and are a great compliment to the ORBCOMM vision," said Braunstein.
